Afic is the largest independent re-manufacturer in Europe and only manufactures to one quality specification, namely a specification that is guaranteed to meet or exceed the OEM specification. In the manufacturing process, only the original once used OEM plastic drum is used and all other print-critical parts are replaced new.
To the best of our knowledge no printer manufacturer has invalidated a warranty or maintenance contract because of the use of a re-manufactured product. It is our understanding that to do so would violate legislation in the USA and probably be challenged in the UK. One piece of initial legislation in this area was the Magnuson Moss Warranty Improvement Act United States Annotated Title 15 Commerce and Trade Chapter 50 Consumer Product Warranties 15 Section 2302 which states:
“No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer's using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name; except that the prohibition of this subsection may be waived by the Commission if:
The Commission shall identify in the Federal Register, and permit public comment on, all applications for waiver of the prohibition of this subsection, and shall publish in the Federal Register its disposition of any such application, including the reasons therefor.”
This means that using a re-manufactured cartridge cannot void the OEM warranty, and this has also been confirmed in the printer manuals of major manufacturers.
Afic warrant that all of its products are guaranteed to perform at the very least to the same standards, for print quality and yield, as the Original Equipment Manufacturer’s product. In line with its confidence that its products will offer complete customer satisfaction a “no-quibble” guarantee is offered. This guarantee states that in the unlikely event a user has reason for cause to complain, afic will replace or credit the item as per the customer’s preference. This guarantee is provided unconditionally.
Additionally should a user have cause to state via a third party or otherwise that the product has caused excess maintenance, and has as a consequence incurred a charge, afic will indemnify the user against such costs provided the following procedure is adhered to:
As further representation of our confidence in our products we offer a technical helpdesk that will answer any queries (at no cost) of a technical nature. Should the user require a visit by one of our engineers a visit will be arranged at the convenience of the customer (again at no cost to the customer). This guarantee emphasises our complete confidence that the user is able to use our product range with complete and irrevocable confidence.
